Produced by Bobby Harlow from The Go and engineered by Jim Kissling at Tempermill Studios, this is my debut LP and I'm damn proud of it!  The incredibly chill and talented Detroit All Stars that backed me featured Dean Fertita on organ and piano (The Dead Weather, Queens of The Stone Age), Kenny Tudrick on drums and guitar (Kid Rock, Detroit Cobras), John Krautner on bass (The Go), Joey Mazzola on guitars (Sponge, Detroit Cobras),  Danny Methric on guitar (The Muggs, The Paybacks), Loretta Lucas on back up vox (Mirrortwin, Sisters Lucas), and Ross Westerbur (Deadstring Brothers) on organ.

Great reviews for The Distance Calls,

"Neil Nathan might not be a household name, but we're adding a big fat "yet" to the end of that statement." --Flavorpill

"California Run is such a perfect single it's awe inspiring." -- Fensepost

"A windingly fun and eventful road trip into the valleys of retro rock." -Delusions of Adequacy

"Similar to The Eagles or Jackson Browne, it's meat and potatoes rock and roll that satisfies all the way through. The blues styled "Get On" has a bit of Dylan in it's DNA with a rolling organ and guitar solo break that is so cool it'll keep ice cream from melting. There are few musicians out there that can pull off this combo of energy and soulful songwriting (Both Matthew Sweet and Jeff Tweedy qualify)."- Powerpopaholic

"Drop the need anyplace on the record and find yourself soaking in a well crafted song. Perfectly balanced rock and soul." - The Ripple Effect

"Neil Nathan's rookie album, The Distance Calls, just feels like Summer." - Detroit Metro Times

"One of this year's truly great rock records and one of the most promising songwriters I've heard in years. The tunes are so sugary, they would give Matthew Sweet a toothache." - Snob's Music

"Reminds me of Bread when they rocked out." - Bill's Music Forum

On California Run,

"The country-inflected single breezes by like a convertible cruising down the PCH, sounding like a long-lost Old 97's track that was recently unearthed." - Magnet Magazine MP3 at 3PM

My song Too Late, off my album, The Distance Calls, is featured in this eerie and entertaining short film, Summer House. It was written by my friend Shelby Reynolds and directed by her man and my compatriot, Vaj Potenza. He edited my Valentine's Day Vid and directed my Darling Friend video. The bubble gum rock of  Too Late is a nice contrast to what's about to happen! Brace yourselves! Great job, creative power couple!!! Congrats.

Thanks to all who came to the Gramercy/Blender Theater and shared in my joy! Opening for Sam Roberts was a huge treat. And when he started with "Detroit '67," I knew I was in the right place. Stay tuned for the animated flying car video for my driving anthem, "Highways." Bizarrely enough, my flying car is modeled after a '67 Corvette Sting Ray! Kizmet baby, kizmet!
